Time to shred! City of Dawsonville to host grand opening for new skate park

Grab your skateboard and get ready for a night of fun and great food, because on Friday, Sept. 3 the City of Dawsonville will hold the official grand opening for the city’s new skate park in conjunction with its monthly Food Truck Friday. 

The event will be held at Main Street Park and feature a ribbon cutting and professional skateboarder Jud Heald, according to a post by the City of Dawsonville. The ribbon cutting will be at 5 p.m., and Heald will be at the skate park from 5 until 7 p.m. There will also be prize giveaways, raffles for skateboard decks and t-shirts, along with live skateboard demonstrations. 

Food Truck Friday will include several local food trucks with different types of food to purchase and last from 5 to 8:30 p.m. According to the city’s post, the currently scheduled food trucks are Sweet Cheeks BBQ, Los Rios, Larry & Cris’s Corner Kitchen, Egg Roll Boyz, Yummy’s Funnel Cakes and Best Ice Cream on Wheels. 

Main Street Park is located at 415 Highway 53 East, behind Dawsonville City Hall. For more information about the Food Truck Friday and ribbon cutting event, go to
