On the morning of Friday Oct. 22, downtown Dawsonville was filled with the roar and hum of dozens of classic car engines as the annual Moonshine Run officially kicked off the 54th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival.
Over three dozen classic cars left Dawson County Junior High School at 10 a.m. and paraded down highway 53 to Main Street, onto Memory Lane and made a quick visit to the residents of North Georgia Assisted Living before heading along the mapped-out route.
The cars drove past or through several historical areas in the county before ending the Moonshine Run at Atlanta Motorsports Park for lunch.
