Now is the time to do a little reflecting on COVID-19 before it becomes a fleeting memory.

Working as a committee under the Dawson County Pandemic Planning is a medical committee tasked with planning a medical response for the citizens of Dawson County during the pandemic. The members were asked to serve as volunteers to add their expertise to this event.  The members were Dr. Nabil Keith, primary care; Dr. Usha Nayak, pulmonology; Dr. Ramesh, cardiology; Dr. Renee Waters, pediatrics; Ms. Susie Bergman, CMT; and myself as chair.

We received additional support from Ashish Patel, pharmacology, and even from the Convent of St. Mary and St. Demiana.

We met by zoom and telephone, sharing the latest information on diagnosis and treatment scenarios that ranged from ICU to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We also worked closely with Dawson County Fire Chief and EMA Director Danny Thompson for both COVI-19 testing and COVID-19 vaccine administration. All of us were working for one common goal: keeping the citizens of Dawson County safe and healthy.

This is what I like about living in Dawson County; people will step up to the plate when needed.

Thanks for reading.
