Spring practice for upcoming ninth-graders will start today at Dawson County High School. The current eighth-graders from Riverview and Dawson County middle schools will practice each day this week and Monday through Thursday next week.

“It will give us a chance to introduce the offenses and defenses to the young players getting ready to enter high school,” said Dawson County High School Head Coach Jeff Lee.

“We will find a position for them on offense and defense. It will give our coaching staff a chance to see what we have coming up. These two weeks will also give us an opportunity to let the players get used to the coaching staff here,” he added.

Lee expects somewhere between 25-35 players to participate in spring drills.

Practice will be held from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. each day.

The upcoming 10th- through 12th-graders will begin spring practice on May 9.

Practices will continue through May 21 and will culminate with the annual spring game.
