A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Dawson County, according to the National Weather Service.
This warning has been extended until 11 p.m. Tuesday.
At 9:51 p.m., a line of strong thunderstorms from Consenauga Lake to near Cartecay was moving south at 15 mph.
This updated warning covers parts of northwestern Dawson as well as northern areas of neighboring counties.
The primary hazards are 60-mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, the NWS alert stated.
Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees is expected.
For their safety, people should move to the interior room on the lowest floor of a building, the alert stated.
