Authorities say that a woman's body was recovered from the Etowah River in Dawson County on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020.
The body was discovered by kayakers near the Hwy. 136 bridge at about 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to Dawson County Fire Chief Danny Thompson.
Thompson could not comment on the individual's age or identity, but said that the individual was not actively sought as a missing person by local authorities when her body was located.
The Dawson County Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, Georgia State Patrol and Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
This incident is being investigated by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.
