Woman wins for harvest

A resident of Dawson County recently won first place in a national event for her agricultural abilities.

 

Jane Smith won for the Non-Irrigated division of the 2010 National Corn Growers’ Association’s Corn Yield Contest.

 

Smith earned one of 359 state titles won by growers planting hybrids.

 

The association awarded 522 state titles, in total, this year.

 

The NCGA Corn Yield Contest is an annual competition among corn producers with the goal of producing the highest yields.

 

In the contest, growers compete within a broad range of corn production classes, including the non-irrigated division.
