A winter storm watch is in effect for 4-10 p.m. Jan. 29 for the north Georgia region including Dawson County. 

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, snow accumulations are possible from late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

According to the watch, total snow accumulations of up to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts, are possible in higher elevations in north Georgia. 

"Travel could be very difficult," the Weather Service says. "The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute." 

The chance of precipitation Tuesday is 100 percent, with wind gusts as high as 25 mph.

The high temperature is predicted to be 44. 

Otherwise, there's a 60 percent chance for rain Monday night.
