Teams are still forming for the 7th annual Don Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament.

A fundraiser for the Northeast Georgia chapter of the American Red Cross, the tournament will be held Aug. 8 at Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville.

American Red Cross spokesman Andy Thompson said he hopes the tournament can exceed last year's fundraising effort.

"Our goal this year is $12,000," Thompson said. "We came awful close last year."

The tournament pays tribute to Don Gordon, a longtime American Red Cross volunteer and Dawson County leader who was set to become chairman of the board when he died suddenly in 2004.

Entry fees for the Ft. Lauderdale scramble are $125 for an individual or $500 for a four-man team. An awards luncheon, gift bags, door prizes, cart fee and range balls are included. Corporate and hole sponsorships are also available.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Prizes will be given for first place gross and net, closest to the pin and long drive.
