Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle is now confirming that two people have died from injuries sustained in the head-on collision this afternoon on Kelly Bridge Road.

"It appears that one vehicle crossed over the center line striking the other vehicle head on. The two fatalities were in the vehicle that crossed over the center line," he said.

A third person was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Emergency workers from Dawson and Forsyth counties responded to the crash near Westray Road just after 3 p.m.

Expect the roadway to be closed for the next several hours as crews investigate the crash site.
