Tournament benefits youth homes

Teams are still forming for the inaugural Georgia Jail Association’s charity golf tournament at Chestatee Golf Club April 12.

The tournament, organized by First Lt. Frank Sosebee of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, will benefit the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes, which provide residential care for over 160 children on five campuses across the state.

“From the beginning to the present, the campuses have achieved their sole purpose of protecting and preserving Georgia’s youth,” said Sosebee, who serves as the group’s third vice president.

Sosebee said fundraisers like the golf tournament help the association with the heavy costs in running the homes.

Tournament play kicks off at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Breakfast, lunch and range balls are included in the $100 per person entry fee.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

Mulligans, limited to four per player, are available for $5 each.

Entry deadline is April 2.
