A two-vehicle collision Sunday evening at the intersection of Hwys. 183 and 53 in Dawsonville sent two to the hospital with non-fatal injuries, according to Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Robin Stone.
According to Stone, around 4:50 p.m. Aug. 6, Marvin Lutrell, 78, of Statham, was driving a 2007 Buick Lucerne southbound on Hwy. 183, attempting to turn left onto Hwy. 53.
Another vehicle, a 1998 Ford Expedition driven by Ethan Cowart, 18, of Dawsonville, was traveling westbound on Hwy. 53 when Lutrell failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign, Stone said.
Lutrell’s vehicle struck the front of Cowart’s.
Lutrell was transported to Emory with non-fatal injuries, Stone said.
He had one passenger, Dorothy Lutrell, 74, who was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, also with non-fatal injuries.
Cowart was not injured, and his passenger, Aaron Kastner, 21, of Mount Airy received a non-fatal injury and was not transported, according to Stone.
Lutrell was issued a warning for failing to yield right of way, Stone said.
