Three arrested in sex offender operation
police emergency

Three Dawson County residents were arrested last Wednesday during a multi-agency sex offender compliance investigation. The operation represented the combined efforts of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, the United States Marshals Office, and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to a release by the Sheriff’s Office, “the purpose of the detail was to ensure that registered sex offenders and sexual predators within Dawson County are in compliance with the Official Code of Georgia, (O.C.G.A), 42-1-12.”

While investigators with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office conduct regular checks to make sure sex offenders in the county are in compliance with the law, this taskforce was designed to do a more thorough verification.

During the bust, Jody Lee Chadwick was arrested for probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender; Christopher Kyle Harris was arrested for a parole violation; and Clyde Ray Huskins was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender.

“It is important for our community to know that there are registered offenders living in our county,” the Sheriff’s Office release claimed. “By working within our office, as well as with our partner agencies, we continue to strive to ensure compliance, in order to help keep our community safe.”
