Dawson County deputies are investigating a suspicious package found at a home on Sandcastle Court in the Biscayne subdivision, near Ga. 400.

Maj. Ray Goodie, commander of the sheriff's criminal investigation division, said agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations have been called to the scene.

"We are currently in the process of getting assistance from the GBI to deal with the suspicious package," he said.

The homeowner reported the suspicious package, according to Goodie.

Nearby neighbors are being evacuated from their homes as a precaution and officers are not letting anyone enter the subdivision at this time.
