In an effort to encourage creativity among local elementary school students, the Dawson County Tax Commissioner’s Office recently held its first annual Design-a-Tag event throughout Dawson County Schools.

Tax Commissioner Nicole Stewart partnered with the school system so that local students could try their hand at designing license plates that they would like to see in the future.

“We wanted to bring color to the office and see what designs the students would like to see,” Stewart said. “We got a number of responses with tons of different designs and colors.”

Templates the size of a standard license plate were distributed to local schools throughout September and submissions are currently on display in the Tax Commissioner’s Office in Suite 1222 at the Dawson County Government Center.

“We would love to do it every year,” Stewart said. “It adds color and hopefully brightens people’s day.”

The artwork will be up through the end of the year and citizens are encouraged to come by and see the artwork.
