A small plane carrying a single occupant crashed into the tree line of Goodson Road in Dawsonville on Sunday around noon.

Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford said that the pilot of the plane was out of the aircraft when emergency services arrived, and was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. He was released on Sunday.

According to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson, the road remained closed until 8:50 p.m. that evening.

Johnson said that the pilot took off from the Gainesville airport.

The vintage 1940's two-seater plane was an Erco 415-C Ercoupe.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the crash.
