Single car wreck claims teens life
Third traffic related death of 2009

One teen was killed and another injured Friday afternoon in a single vehicle wreck on Hugh Stowers Road.  

According to authorities, the teen’s were traveling south on Hugh Stowers Road, when the male driver, Gregory Kolton Findley, 18, left the roadway, hit a mailbox and flipped several times, before coming to a stop in a nearby pasture.  

Findley was trapped underneath the red Ford Ranger pick-up truck, and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to  Dawson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tony Wooten.  

The female passenger, 16, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to Wooten.  

Authorities have confirmed that both Findley and the female passenger are currently students at Dawson County High School.   

Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation and no further details are available at this time.  

The teen’s death marks the third on Dawson County roads in 2009.   

On Feb. 23, Tyler Hutchison, 18, of Dawsonville, was killed when he was ejected from a vehicle on Coltrane Road. According to authorities, he was not wearing a seat belt.   

On March 11, Jake Fausett, 16, of Dawsonville, died after a single-vehicle wreck on Hwy. 136,  March 10. Fausett lost control of his 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis on his way home from school, according to authorities. He was also not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
