Those looking for a night of live country music need look no further than Dawson County this week.

Country recording artist Kurt Thomas will play a concert Sept. 18 at the Lakeview Center to raise dollars for the Dawson County Senior Center’s elevator fund.

Originally from Dahlonega, Thomas has opened for popular country artists such as Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Alan and Sugarland.

Over the Labor Day weekend, Thomas was the opening act for the Zac Brown Band who was performing on a cruise ship.

Proceeds go toward a “much needed” elevator at the senior center, according to Cathy Brooks, government and community affairs director for Dawson County.

Pre-sale tickets are $20, and may be purchased through Lakeview Center by calling (706) 216-1022. Credit cards will be accepted for pre-sale.

Those wishing to pay in cash may purchase tickets at the Dawson County Senior Center and Lakeview Center in advance.

Tickets are $25 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m.

For those who aren’t music lovers, tickets may be purchased to sponsor a senior citizen to attend the concert.
