The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin road work on Hwy. 53 East from downtown Dawsonville to Lumpkin Campground Road this weekend, according to the Dawson County government website.

The public works department has issued a notice that GDOT will begin deep patching the road on Sunday, July 9. The work will be done at night and should be completed in two to three weeks, according to the notice.

Citizens should expect delays and plan accordingly.
