River Park closed due to storm damage

Dawson County authorities said on Friday that the River Park Canoe Launch off Hwy. 9 in south Dawson has been temporary closed,  due to damage caused by storms on Thursday. 

Heavy rain and wind buffeted north Georgia for hours on Thursday, causing streams and rivers, like the Etowah at River Park, to rise significantly and flood areas of the county. 

Officials say that weather permitting, the park will reopen in the near future.
