The Dawson County Humane Society is hosting the 4th annual Pups in the Park Dog Show and Festival this weekend with all proceeds benefiting the no-kill shelter.

Starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 23, Pups in the Park is fun for the whole family, furry friends included.

The event is being held at Rock Creek Park in Dawson County and will continue until 2 p.m.

Participants can enter to participate in the 5K Fun Run at 9 a.m. or enter the 0K no run and sit it out. T-shirts will be awarded for both events. Also, a pet parade at 11:30 is free of charge for you and your pet.

Other activities include dog demonstrations, a dog show and contests, “Pucker Up with Buttercup” the champion dairy cow, pet adoptions, pet microchipping, a search and rescue demonstration, open market merchandise, fun activities for kids and more.

Families can bring their dogs to compete in many contests including best costume, cutest and ugliest in large, medium and small categories, as well as best trick and others.

The event is free and open to the public. The 5K, 0K and contests require fees for participation.

Pups in the Park is a collaboration of efforts by the Dawson County Lions Club, Rotary Club of Dawson County, Dawson County Juniorettes, Dawson County Interact Club, junior 4-H members and the Dawson County Humane Society.
