Dawson County’s longest serving poll official Sharon Hall officially retired from her duties on Jan. 28 after serving for 45 years. Hall began serving under Helen Talton, the Registrar and Hall’s Sunday School teacher in 1975. She tasked Hall with helping her count ballots at night. Hall was 16 when she began her career and later became the Tabulation Manager where she was responsible for overseeing the reconciling, correctness and count of absentee ballots. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Hall’s daughter Samantha Bruce also became a poll official, ensuring the Hall legacy at the Dawson County Board of Elections and Registration.
