Patient extricated after head-on collision with tractor trailer Friday morning

A woman was extricated from her vehicle and the road was closed for several hours Friday morning after a two-vehicle collision near Dawsonville.

According to Dawson County Emergency Services Director Danny Thompson, the incident occurred at 8:09 a.m. Aug. 31 in the area of Hwy. 183 and Hwy 53. The two vehicles involved were a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer.

According to Thompson, personnel utilized the "jaws of life" to extricate a female patient from her vehicle at 8:27 a.m. The patient was transported to Northeast Georgia medical Center in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. 

The incident is being investigated by Georgia State Patrol.
