The City of Dawsonville and Dawson County Chamber of Commerce are inviting the community to ring in the holiday season during Saturday's Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting celebration.
"We are so excited about our upcoming 3rd annual Christmas Parade," said Christie Haynes, chamber president. "The parade and tree lighting are a great reminder of the joys of living in a small town."
The parade begins at 5 p.m., followed by the lighting of the grand Dawsonville Municipal Complex tree at dark.
"If you've never attended before, we hope you'll join us this year. This is the perfect opportunity to start a new family tradition," she said.
Many city streets will be closed for the parade, which draws hundreds of attendees each year.
More than 20 floats created by various local organizations, churches and businesses have registered to participate, as well as musical entertainment that will perform Christmas songs along the route.
"After the parade, bring your family to city hall and participate in the tree lighting," Haynes said.
In addition to carolers and cloggers, the tree lighting ceremony also includes complimentary hot cocoa, children's activities, such as crafting and cookie decorating, and visits with Santa.
Both events are free to attend, but there are some extra costs, such as food and photos with Santa.
