One man was injured when a single-engine plane crashed onto the go-kart track at the Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville Monday morning.

According to Chief Tim Satterfield with Dawson County Emergency Services, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. Oct. 30.

Sheriff Jeff Johnson said that the plane, a single-engine, seven-seat Piper, was reportedly traveling from Gainesville to Chicago when the pilot reported loss of power and had to make an emergency landing.

The man, 50, was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in stable but serious condition, Satterfield said.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.

More details will be released as they become available.
