Northeast Georgia Physicians Group in Dawsonville has recently welcomed Dr. John Travis Nelson MD to its practice.

Nelson, who is board certified in family medicine, is looking forward to being a part of the NGPG Dawsonville team, according to a release from Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG).

“I am excited to join NGPG to care for patients here in Dawson County,” Nelson said in the release. “It is extremely beneficial for our patients to be a part of Northeast Georgia Health System, allowing for continuity of care throughout our region.”

Nelson earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completed his family medicine residency at Virginia Tech-Carilion Clinic where he served as chief resident, and completed his primary and sports medicine fellowship at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C., the release said.

NGPG offers routine and preventative healthcare for adults and children, treatment of chronic illnesses and treatment of minor injuries. Nelson will be seeing children two years and older for primary care needs, as well as a range of sports medicine procedures and treatments.
