The city will be rocking when the region's hottest tribute bands converge this weekend for Rockin' it in the Sticks in downtown Dawsonville.

With cover bands playing favorite tunes by Bon Jovi, Journey and ZZ Top on Friday, to Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Motley Crue and Poison on Saturday, organizers are expecting several thousand rock fans to attend.

"This is all rock this year, for Dawsonville. The goal with this lineup is to pull people up from Cumming and Alpharetta," said promoter Donavon Hyder. "I think it's going to be big this year. We're expecting 10,000-12,000 people."

Similar to last year's inaugural Dawsonville Music and Beer Festival, the two-day event will feature a variety of Georgia-based craft brewers and food from area restaurants and caterers.

"We'll have more vendors this year, for sure. We're hoping to have more food and drink choices this year, too," Hyder said.

Advance tickets are $10 each per day and available at ticketalternative.com, or $15 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are free.

Two day passes and VIP seating are also available by calling (877) 725-8849.

New this year, RV parking at $20 per night will also be available on a first- come, first-served basis.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Livi's Wish, a local foundation set up in honor of Olivia Graham of Dawsonville, who was diagnosed with leukemia and wants to share with the world what it is like to battle pediatric cancer.
