Movies in the Park kicks off this weekend

The popular Movies in the Park series jump starts summer Friday night on the beach at War Hill Park.

Activities for the entire family begin at 7 p.m. with “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” on the big screen at dusk.

Admission is free, and movie-goers are invited to bring picnic dinners or purchase from the concession vendors available on-site for the event.

Traditionally, movie screenings have been held at Rock Creek on the soccer fields because of the park’s central location within the community.

Last year, Dawson County Parks and Recreation decided to relocate the June movie to War Hill Park located at the end of War Hill Park Road off Hwy. 53 East.

For the past several years, the park has undergone major renovations and beautifications, becoming a very popular place for families to spend their free time.
