The streets of downtown Dawsonville will rev to life this weekend during the 42nd Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival.

Festivities get under way Friday morning, when dozens of Moonshine-era Fords make a run through north Georgia.

That’s followed by a weekend of food and fall fun that’s always a crowd pleaser.

The festival is expected to draw more than 100,000 people to Dawsonville.

Vendors from across the Southeast will feature everything from handmade jewelry and decorative gourds to racing memorabilia and some of the tastiest fare in north Georgia.

There also will be live entertainment, including clogging and bluegrass and gospel music.

Actor Jim Mitchum, who starred with his father Robert Mitchum in the 1959 movie “Thunder Road,” will serve as grand marshal of Saturday morning’s parade, which kicks off at 9 a.m.

Festival-goers can catch the movie all weekend in the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame at the Dawsonville Municipal Complex, which is also the site of a car show, cruise in and swap meet Saturday and Sunday.
