Miss KARE for Kids 2012 will be crowned Sept. 15 at Riverview Middle School.

As queen, Miss KARE for Kids will represent the organization in various capacities during the next year.

More than 70 contestants competed in last year's pageant in seven age categories.

Judging is based on beauty, poise and personality on a scale of 1-10.

Each division queen will receive a crown, sash and bouquet of flowers. Trophies are also awarded to the runners-up of each age division.

There will be an optional practice the evening of Sept. 14 at the middle school auditorium.

Advance registration is recommended. Contestants can also register at the door the day of the event. The cost is $40. Additional family members receive a discounted rate of $20 to compete.

Admission to the pageant is $3 per person. Admission is free for children 3 and younger.
