A 22-year-old man was injured in a sledding incident Wednesday afternoon in Dawson County.

The man, whose name has not been released, was using a kayak as a sled on Old Savannah Place off Thompson Road when he collided head-on with a tree. He was with family at the time of the accident.

Dawson County Emergency Services Batallion Chief Jason Dooley said the man was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was listed in stable condition.

According to Dooley, while emergency workers have responded to a variety of medical calls, the sledding incident is the only weather-related accident.
