Even as a child, Larry Pirkle wrote about the “old times” and the life lessons he learned from his mother and her parents growing up near the Etowah River.
A sixth generation Dawson County native, Pirkle “grew up learning by the side of masters of faith, that hard work and determination can help you achieve any task the good Lord sets before you.”
“The Lord blessed my life with a mother, a grandma and granddaddy that were truly heaven sent. God knew I needed them, just to clear a path for me to walk in this world,” said Pirkle, who can now share that devotion in his newest book.
Published by Xlibirs Publishing out of Bloomington, Ind., “Of the Seeds They’ve Sown” pays tribute to the faith his family firmly planted for him.
“I believe that I am living on prayers, which were planted for me by these dear folk. I haven’t inherited much in material things in this life, but I am so thankful that I have inherited a legacy of faith, a heritage from born-again Christian believers,” Pirkle said.
“They overcame so much in their walk with the Lord, and their stories need to be passed on,” he said.
A book signing will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at the Bowen Center for the Arts. The book, which is also available at Xlibirs.com and Amazon.com, will be available for purchase at the book signing.
