With spring just around the corner, the Dawson County Public Library is gearing up for warmer weather and nights under the stars.

The library will be hosting the free "Ease into Camping" event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 15. Special guest Bill Tanner will discuss the ins and outs of creating a successful and fun camping experience.

A veteran park ranger of 30 years and former park manager of Amicalola Falls, Tanner will share his expertise by walking visitors through what to know about planning an outdoor adventure.

From gear, such as tents and RVs, to finding the location that's right for you, information and demonstrations will be available to help you prepare.

"Whether you're brand new to the great outdoors or simply need a refresher, ‘Ease into Camping' will help you do just that," said Stacey Leonhardt, branch manager of the library. "So bring your lawn chairs, and pull up a seat around the fire. You might even get to toast a marshmallow or two."
