Memorial service arrangements for Dawson County High School coach Gerard A. “Jed” Lacey have been released.

Lacey, 58, of Dawsonville died Saturday Aug. 12 in a car wreck on Ga. 400.

According to his obituary,  a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Dawson County Performing Arts Center.  Rev. Brody Hughes and Rev. Chad Rogers will officiate.

"Better known as Coach Lacey, Jed followed his passion to coach and motivate the youth of Dawson County," the obituary reads. "He dedicated his life in mentoring youth to reach their full potential as a person, as a student, a team member and improving the community around them."

 Lacey is survived by his wife of 23 years, Charlotte Lacey, and their daughter Fallan.

According to the obituary, in addition to immediate family, "Coach Lacey is survived by numerous students he coached and mentored throughout his career. Fellow coaching staff and faculty Jed considered members of his extended family."
