Two Jasper men were arrested last week and charged with armed robbery after reportedly stealing a chainsaw from a victim they met online.

According to Sheriff Jeff Johnson, Brandon Lee Simmons, 20, and his father, Stanley Allen Simmons, 41, both of Jasper, reportedly met up with the victim Jan. 18 in the Dawsonville Dairy Queen parking lot to purchase a chainsaw.

Johnson said that Brandon Simmons allegedly grabbed the victim's chainsaw and put it in the bed of his truck while his father repeatedly struck the victim with a two-foot long rubber cord.

The two then fled the scene.

Brandon Simmons has been charged with armed robbery while his father Stanley Simmons has been charged with armed robbery as well as aggravated assault, battery, possession of firearms/knife during the commission of a crime, seat belt violation and concealing the tag of the truck with the intent of concealing the vehicle's identity.

The two were arrested Jan. 18 and are currently being held without bail.

Johnson said that he could not be certain of the extent of the victim's injuries but did say the victim was not transported.
