The Goodwill Career Center, located inside Dawsonville's Goodwill store near Ingles, is hosting a multi-employer job fair next week.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Oct. 18.

Hiring managers from more than 12 local businesses will attend and conduct on-site interviews.

The fair is free to attend.

The businesses that will be at the job fair include Kroger, Belk, Panera Bread, Waffle House, Koch Foods, Aramark with the University of North Georgia, Regal Maid Service, Express Employment Professionals, the Budd Group, Gracemont Assisted Living, Salon SmartStyle at Walmart and Legacy Link.

Glorivee Cruz-Velazquez, Career Center manager, said that job seekers should dress professionally and come with copies of their resumes.

"You can always get copies of your resume here, and can update your resume in advance on our computers if you don't have access to one at home," Cruz-Velazquez said.

The Career Center officially opened in July, and provides job-seeking services like resume and mock interview workshops, computer courses in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, computer access for emails and job applications and more.

"We have intro to computer classes, first impression workshops to teach people how to meet employers, and whenever someone comes in we give them the Career Center orientation, which shows them how to use the center to their advantage and gives them information about all of the courses and services offered," Cruz-Velazquez said.

Cruz-Velazquez said that the Career Center has so far averaged about three job fairs a month. She also said that pre-registering for the job fair is ideal, and can be done online at Walk-ins are also welcome.

The center also provides services for employers who are looking for job applicants. Employers can use the space for on-site hiring, which can include screening candidates, online applications, orientation and job fairs.

Employers can call ahead to reserve a space at the center to ensure there are enough resources available.

The Career Center is at 66 S. 400 Center Lane in Dawsonville.

Regular hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.
