The second time was a charm for the Dawson County Humane Society's 12th annual Dogleg Charity Golf Tournament.

Originally scheduled for April 7 and rained out, April 21 proved to be a "charmed day" for weather at Crystal Falls and for the team winners.

Winning gross team was Overdrive Logistics and winning net team was Adamson Construction. Both teams held on to titles that they had earned during last year's event.

Eleven players scored four strokes in the Putting for Puppies Contest, forcing a putt-off on the 18th green to decide a winner. The final victory went to Jeff Williams from the Sherwood Team.

Golf pro Zach Caldwell came out to help by "Driving for the Dogs" at hole 18.

The true winners from the Dogleg tournaments are the rescued and adopted animals from the Dawson County Humane Society's no-kill shelter, according to Terri Tragesser, tournament chair.

"These tournaments are a pleasure to do because of our dedicated golf committee members, all the wonderful golfers, hardworking volunteers and, of course, our generous sponsors that come out each year to support our mission," she said.
