A gala next week will celebrate two decades of service and support to victims of domestic violence and their families.

NOA’s largest fundraiser of the year, the annual Spring Gala will be held at R-Ranch in Dahlonega on March 25.

Tickets at $65 each or $500 for a table of eight are still available for the black tie optional event.

“We have a lot to celebrate — all the people that we have served over the years,” said Marina Barron, executive director.

A voice for victims of domestic violence since 1992, the shelter served nearly 1,500 people in Dawson and Lumpkin counties last year.

Services include shelter from violence, a crisis hotline, legal advocacy, counseling and emergency financial assistance, among others.

One single mother of four boys said NOA changed her life and made her goals “reachable.”

“Life seemed like it would never get better and there was no way out. The advocates and counselors have really, without a doubt, changed my life,” she said. “Sometimes all it takes for success is knowing you’re not alone.”
