Forestry pageant approaching

Women ages 24 and younger can participate in the 72nd annual Dawson/Forsyth Georgia Forestry Pageant, which is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2011.

The pageant will be held at Lanier Technical College Conference Center in Forsyth County.

The Georgia Forestry Pageant is the oldest scholarship pageant in the state.

Winners of the pageant will receive a full-paid entry fee into the state-level Miss Georgia Forestry, which will be held later in the year.

In addition to a scholarship, the winner of the state-wide competition will receive the official crown, rhinestone studded banner, a forestry pin, official Miss Georgia

Forestry diamond and emerald ring, silver engraved tray, flowers, bicycles, stereos and other gifts totaling more than $2,000.

In addition, their picture will appear in five national magazines.

The Dawson/Forsyth County queens will be responsible for promoting forestry for their respective counties.
