A 38-year-old man and his 6-year-old son both drowned Tuesday afternoon while swimming at Dicks Creek Falls in Lumpkin County, according to a press release from the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office.

The father and son were identified as Joshua and Jaxon Kistler.

According to police, shortly before 2 p.m. June 20, personnel responded to the falls located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in reference to two possible drowning victims.

The bodies of the two Kistlers were eventually recovered from the water.

Authorities say no foul play is suspected and there were numerous witnesses at the scene.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims' family," the release reads. "We would like to thank all agencies involved: Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forestry, Hall County Sheriff's Office and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to all the citizens who assisted prior to the arrival of emergency services."
