With thousands of visitors descending on Dawsonville during the 48th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival, local authorities are asking motorists to plan their routes and avoid the downtown area if not attending the festival. To accommodate the parade, increased foot traffic and offer better security for vendors and visitors, many streets through downtown Dawsonville will remain closed Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. New this year, the festival activities will close Hwy. 53 at its intersection with Main Street beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday through 9 p.m. Sunday.
