This year's Family Connection Celebrity Waiter Breakfast will see local celebrities out in force to serve the community a delicious meal to raise funds for the organization.

The ninth annual event will be held on Friday morning at LongHorn Steakhouse.

"I just love this fundraiser," said Family Connection Coordinator Nancy Stites. "The community can come together and have fun."

Stites said that the original purpose of the event was just to let people know about Family Connection and to have an event that says they are all about families and community.

Dawson County Family Connection is part of a statewide initiative of collaborative partnerships to improve the lives of children and families in Georgia.

"Of course we want to raise money but the biggest purpose is just to get everyone together," she said.

Celebrity waiters will include local government officials like State Representative Kevin Tanner and Dawson County Commissioners Julie Hughes Nix and Sharon Fausett. Local school principals and Dawson County High School football coach Sid Maxwell will also be serving.

The breakfast runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and food can be taken to go and even delivered to areas close to the restaurant.

The menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, muffins and French toast.

"I expect fun, spilled coffee and frustrated waiters," Stites said laughing.

Tickets are available at LongHorn Steakhouse or at Family Connection. They can also be purchased at the door on the day of the event.

Tickets are $10 each. For more information, call (706) 265-1981.
