An 84-year-old Dawson County woman died early Thursday morning in a house fire, county officials said this morning.

In a separate incident Wednesday, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Ga. 400.

At about 12:30 a.m. today, Dawson County Emergency Services responded to a house fire on Pinewood Trail. Heavy smoke and flames were showing when firefighters arrived. The woman, Rosie Lee Holtzclaw, was trapped inside the house.

Fire crews were able to reach Holtzclaw in a bedroom. She was taken to Northside Forsyth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The house was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was stuck and killed by a car traveling northbound on Ga. 400, just north of Ga. 136.
