An 89-year-old Dawsonville man died Monday afternoon from injuries he suffered in a wreck earlier that day.
Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Robin Stone said Heinz Boehm failed to yield as he pulled his 1990 Nissan Axxess onto Hwy. 9 north from a private driveway near Apple Ridge 2.
The Nissan was struck on the driver side by a full-size Ford van driven by James Pruett, 68, also of Dawsonville.
Pruett was not injured in the collision, which occurred about 9:45 a.m.
Dawson County Emergency Services Battalion Chief Benjie Ensley said crews used the Jaws of Life to free Boehm from the wreckage.
He was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he later died.
Edwards said two passengers in the van were taken by ambulance to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
No charges are expected to be filed in the case.
The death was the second on Dawson County roads in 2012.
A Flowery Branch woman was killed March 18 when she was thrown from the motorcycle on which she was riding with her husband at the crossing of Henry Grady Road and Ga. 400.
There were four traffic-related fatalities in 2011.
