Hester graduates training

Michael James Hester, 20, graduated from the Naval Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. on Oct. 30.

  

A 2007 graduate of Dawson County High School, he is the son of Jody and Robin Hester.

  

He is currently in Pensacola, Fla. for “A” school and will be at the Naval Air Station until he finishes training for his job, Aviation Boatswain’s Mate.

  

He is the grandson of James and Donna Christopher, Al and Jan Hester, Peggy and Charles Jordan and Debbie Haefele. He is the great-grandson of Albert and Frances Hester.

Despite the turmoil over the last year, as classes were canceled and pushed online due to COVID-19, the graduation rate in Dawson County for 2020 remains one of the highest in the state, according to Dawson County Schools Superintendent Damon Gibbs.
