Earth Day celebration Friday

The Dawson County Woman’s Club invites the community to celebrate Earth Day on Friday morning at Rock Creek Park.

The group plans to meet at 11 a.m. at the park’s hummingbird and butterfly garden, near the entrance on Martin Road.

Light refreshments will be served, and several door prizes will be given away.

Dawson County Master Gardeners and an ornithologist will be available to answer gardening and bird questions.

The club’s conservation committee actively educates members and the community about the importance and benefits of beautifying the community, preserving natural resources and stimulates members and citizen action to address these concerns.

In addition to sponsoring the county’s annual Earth Day celebration, the group is also involved in Keep Dawson County Beautiful’s Adopt-A-Mile program, Arbor Day tree planting, humane society support, water conservation and mitigation issues and other preservation projects.
