Dump truck overturns onto passenger vehicle at Hwy. 53 and Ga. 400

Two patients were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical center this afternoon after a dump truck overturned on top of a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Ga. 400 and Hwy. 53. 

A press release from Dawson County Public Relations Specialist Laura Fulcher states that emergency personnel with Fire Engine 2 responded to calls about the incident at 2:36 p.m. Feb. 18.

Additional engines, med units, Forsyth County Heavy Rescue and Air Life were also called to assist in the extrication and treatment of a trapped occupant. 

According to the release, personnel had to perform an extensive extrication utilizing the Jaws of Life to free the patient from the passenger vehicle. 

Two patients were transported from the scene in stable condition.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the incident. 

The roadway was closed for over an hour.
