One person was seriously injured and others sustained minor injuries after a four-car pileup on Ga. 400 in Dawson County Tuesday morning.

Dawson County Emergency Services responded to a call at approximately 4:30 a.m. that a wreck had occurred between the outlet mall entrance and the Dunkin Donuts.

According to Sheriff Jeff Johnson, the wreck occurred when one driver was traveling northbound on Ga. 400 in the southbound lanes. The wrong way driver struck two other vehicles, causing one of the vehicles to strike another southbound vehicle.

The operator of the wrong way vehicle and the driver of another involved vehicle were transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Johnson said.

The name of the wrong way driver is being withheld at this time due to serious injury. The accident is still under investigation and the sheriff's office does not know why the vehicle was traveling in the southbound lane.

Ga. 400 was closed for approximately an hour and a half.
