The driver of a minivan is being sought by authorities following a report that the man attempted to talk to a child near a bus stop.

An unidentified male attempted to compel a child March 6 to come to his blue minivan after the child exited a school bus, according to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson.

According to the police report, the 10-year-old child was stopped by a male described as in his 20s or 30s and the male tried to get the child to come over to his van.

The child ran towards his home and the male left.

The driver of the bus was able to confirm the event. Video was captured, but as the bus was not equipped with a side stop sign camera, no image of the tag was taken.

The incident was reported to have occurred at 3:40 p.m. near Kelley Pirkle Drive in Dawsonville.
The case is still being investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dawson County Sheriff's Office at (706) 344-3535.
