A Forsyth County grand jury has indicted a Dawsonville man in connection to a fatal car crash during which he is accused to have been in possession of an illegal controlled substance. Charles Benjamin Gilbert, 33, who lives near Lake Lanier in Dawson County, was charged with first- and second-degree homicide by vehicle after a Nov. 9, 2016 accident involving Gilbert's Chevrolet C 3500 truck on Hwy. 53 in north Forsyth that did, "without malice aforethought, cause the death of" 68-year-old Andrew Pettigrew Jones, of Dawsonville, according to a bill of indictment. Gilbert also faces a count of serious injury by vehicle for the same accident that left the "sternum and ribs" of Jones's 67-year-old wife "useless."
